pps / FORA is the demonstration of community
The concept for pps/FORA originated as an artist-run performance night in Brisbane's Bearded Lady. The spirit of the night depended on the courage and openness of those present, and the online space is no different. More than a reading night, the room welcomed poetry, stories, theatre, music, and live art. Running with this concept, the online space pushes the collective portfolios and achievements of a community. Via a belief that no output is created in a vacuum, the nature of the conglomeration is determined by the actions of the community.

Obviously, the current global situation has largely prompted the online shift.

The idea is a hot dinner party: thick cotton tablecloth, heavy-bottomed pans, pot-luck dinner settling. It is a kitchen table where we celebrate ourselves and our achievements, each and every day.
pps/FORA publishes short-form writing, drawings, cookery, music, and anything that makes sense. Contributors are encouraged to submit their work to

We would like to acknowledge that we live and work on the unceded traditional homeland of the Turrbal and Jagera people. We pay respect to Turrbal and Jagera peoples, past, present, and future and their continuing presence in the homeland and throughout the diaspora.
We would also like to acknowledge the Indigenous peoples who have and who presently live, work, create, and contribute to our communities here in Meanjin/Brisbane.
We recognise the continual displacement and violence perpetrated against Indigenous people by the colonial concept of Australia, and are aware that these kinds of acknowledgments can be misused as stand-ins for actual decolonisation work, which is something to bear in mind while continuing to work and build frameworks to dismantle the ongoing effects of colonial legacy, here and elsewhere.
