Three Sunflowers / Tom Schulte

Three sunflowers and a few lilies wither,

My lady and films are scornful,

They’re rarely touched.

I, declining into bed

Oblige to the demise, falling with night.

Alas

Much has changed since the beginning of love!

As if human beauty,

So close and personal was too much to bear!

Money has shortened,

Trousers have tightened

Cat paces all throughout those dark hours

I’m sleepless

Yes, withered like my flowers

I chase a drop to revive.

Or magic

Magic!

The unexplained explains,

Those (dead) sunflowers and lilies will reprise

After chasing light

Or water and abundant air

Much like love

And our need to create

It comes and goes

Tom Schulte occasionally creates poems, photos, and short films, at times combining speech and visual media to create a singular piece of work or performance. He is currently based in Brisbane.
